Choosing the best route from Ontario through the north-eastern US heading south was aided by the maps below.  The first snowfall and daily average temperatures maps demand the most attention as I don’t want to freeze or drive through snow.

After reading Alison Bechdel’s book (graphic novel) Fun Home: A Family Tragicomic in which she describes growing up in Beech Creek, PA I’ve latched onto the idea entering the Appalachians somewhere along the Beech Creek Appalachian ridge.  So, though I might regret deciding to drive through these mountains in late November, at least I have a destination with purpose for the first few days.
